Hastings High School Career Day Draws 500 Students!

Twenty-eight area businesses and organizations participated in the Hastings High Career Day as well as Central Community College and Hastings College.  Over 500 students from Hastings High, Hastings Middle School and Hastings St. Cecilia learned about the career opportunities available to them in Hastings and Central Nebraska. The career day was organized by Matt Hurt, Hastings High's Advanced Manufacturing and Welding teacher and Maggie Vaughn, Director of Talent Solutions with the Hastings Economic Development Corporation.  Students were treated to some hands-on demonstrations as well as an opportunity meeting prospective employers.

Central Community College had a variety of stations for different areas of study including a very popular Culinary Arts table with food demonstrations.  Matt Hurt was very pleased with the number of area businesses and organizations that participated as well as CCC and Hastings College.  He expects next year the event will host even bigger numbers.
