David JohnsonDistinguished Senior Educator Award
Honoring Excellence in Education
Dave Johnson

Thanks to the generosity of Roger and Karen Doerr, Hastings Public Schools is proud to present the Distinguished Senior Educator Award—an honor recognizing non-administrative staff with 20+ years of dedicated service to our students. This award is especially meaningful as nominations come exclusively from fellow staff members.

This year’s recipient, Mr. Dave Johnson, received multiple nominations highlighting his impact at Hastings High School. Colleagues describe him as a well-respected teacher who fosters meaningful discussions with students rather than lecturing at them. His ability to engage students—and even involve hall monitors in classroom conversations—reflects his commitment to learning.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Johnson is known for his practical wisdom in meetings, often bridging differing viewpoints to find thoughtful, collaborative solutions. His dedication, respect from students and staff, and ability to inspire meaningful dialogue make him a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Congratulations, Mr. Johnson!
