HPS Community:
This week, we have been made aware of two social media posts listing multiple schools and someone re-posting that the schools listed are targeted for violence. This has caused some of our students to report this to staff members, and we are thankful that they shared their concerns with adults.
One of the posts involves schools outside of the US, and the other lists schools that we believe are located in Georgia. These lists included hundreds of schools, which we believe were copied from State Department of Education websites. A few of the schools share the same name as some HPS schools. We have worked with local law enforcement on each of these issues and have found NO credible threat. Again, we are thankful that students have brought this to the attention of adults because the local rumors continue to grow.
We are informing adults in our community of this issue in case students come home and discuss this with you. There is no specific threat directed at HPS buildings at this time, and we will continue to make the safety of our students and staff members our top priority.
