Hastings Public Schools Artist in Residence 2019

Hastings Public Schools is partnering with Hastings College to bring some of the top Jazz musicians in the world to our community to work with students over a 4-day period, Sunday, March 31stthrough Tuesday, April 2nd.  This Artist In Residence will showcase our music students to the community of Hastings and South Central Nebraska.
 
Artist include; Tom “Bones” Malone and “Blue” Lou Marini from the original Blues Brothers Band, Kirk Garrison from the Lt. Dan Band, Joey and Tony Gulizia from the “G Bros” and Mannheim Steamroller, and Keri Chryst, Jazz Vocalist from Paris, France.
 
This Artist In Residence involves 4th through 12thgrade students.  A separate letter will be sent to parents and students who are directly involved with detailed information. 
 
Sunday, March 31st:Select Jazz Band and Vocal students practice with the Artist In Residence (AIR) at Lynn Farrell Arena at Hastings College throughout the afternoon.
 
Monday, April 1st:The Middle School Jazz Cats and High School Tiger Jazz Ensemble will perform at the Hastings College Jazz Festival in the morning.
 
Monday, April 1st:The BIGConcert will be at 7:30pm, Hastings College Lynn Farrell Arena. This is FREE to the public and will feature the HPS 5thgrade Jazz Combo, HMS Jazz Cats with select Vocal students, HHS Tiger Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Choir, HC Jazz Band, and our guest artist also known as “The Band”.
 
Tuesday, April 2nd:The Hastings College Jazz Festival continues in the morning with “Master Class” clinics with the guest artists and our students.  This is completely voluntary.  Students can only attend with parents’ permission to be excused from school.
 
Tuesday, April 2nd:There will be two special assemblies at the Middle School for 4thand 5th grade Elementary students (1pm), and all Middle School students (2:45pm), that will again feature our students performing with “The Band”.
 
This will be both memorable and educational for our students and out community.  Please come out and support our students as they perform Monday night, April 1st!
