Sonos de Mexico visiting Watson

During the week of Oct. 23-27, Hastings Public Schools had the privilege of hosting "Sonos de Mexico", a musical group who shares the music and traditional culture of many regions of Mexico. On Mondaymorning, the fifth grade classes worked with the artists in three workshops: Danza de Viejitos & Mask Making,  La Danza del Sol, and Afro-Mexican Mimetic Dances.  They also worked separately with the band and orchestra students.Monday afternoon the group came to Watson and did a fantastic assembly for all of the Watson students and staff. Tuesdaythrough Friday, the group worked with all of the other HPS Schools, and presented a free public concert Thursday evening at the Hastings City Auditorium, featuring many HPS students. Thank you, Mr. Matticks, for your planning, fund-raising and bringing this group to town, and to the Watson P.T.O. for contributing!
