5th Grade Events

Some events happening in Longfellow 5th Grade

As spring approaches, the 5th graders are busy in so many ways. In both classrooms, we are writing an important essay for the Sertoma Club essay competition about the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. This expository piece is a way for students to show some pretty advanced writing skills and a chance for 5th graders to learn more about how our government works to ensure many types of freedom for its citizens. We are also beginning to prepare for the state testing that will take place in April by reviewing many ELA, Science, and Math topics.

Spring is full of fun trips for 5th graders! We will tour the middle school, head to the Hastings Museum for a Science Day, and participate in Outdoor Discovery at Fort Kearny State Park. We will also take a half-day trip to Central Community College to learn about their summer technology program designed especially for middle school students. 5th-grade parents should be watching for a calendar of events to come home soon!
