Christian YostCongratulations, Christian Yost, our Emerging Educator of the Year! Mr. Yost has been an outstanding member of the HPS community for the past four years, consistently demonstrating remarkable dedication and passion for his role.
Christian's commitment to excellence is evident in his work with the HHS vocal program. Upon joining our team, he set a clear goal to elevate the program to new heights, and he has undoubtedly succeeded. Under his guidance, the program has flourished, with record numbers of students achieving prestigious accolades such as acceptance into the Nebraska All State Choir.
Not only does Mr. Yost prioritize student success, but he also fosters an inclusive and supportive environment. His creation of Nebraska's first Unified Show Choir is a testament to his dedication to ensuring every student feels valued and included. Through this initiative, he has not only showcased the talents of all students but also facilitated meaningful friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Distinguished Senior Educator

Greg Mays

 

Greg MaysCongratulations, Greg Mays, our Distinguished Senior Educator! Greg has been in education for 30 years and with the district for much of that time. Greg has taught English and coached football and basketball at many levels. 
While Mr. Mays demonstrates exceptional skill in guiding students to analyze texts and find reliable sources, preparing them for future success, he is also known for fostering individual relationships that inspire self-confidence. His infectious enthusiasm for learning, especially in writing, reading, and Nebraska High School Sports, sets a remarkable example for all. 
Mr. Mays' commitment to high expectations and unwavering belief in student potential, coupled with his proactive communication with parents and counselors, make him a truly remarkable educator. He generously volunteers his time to support students outside his classroom, earning appreciation from all stakeholders. Congratulations, Mr. Mays, on this well-deserved recognition!
