  • Charlotte M. (Weber) Walz, a 1948 Hastings High graduate passed away on December 12, 2018.  She was married to John Walz who passed away in 1984 and a was a homemaker.
  • Matthew R. Friend, a 1972 Hastings High graduate passed away on December 11, 2018.  He owned and operated Matt Friend Truck Equipment in Hastings and was a member of Elks, Southern Hills Golf Course, Lochland Country Club, Eagles, MWBA, KCBS, and SCA.
  • Terry B. Adler Sr. a 1968 Hastings High graduate passed away on December 12, 2018.  He worked as a mechanic at Hastings Industries, Hastings Pork and Metz Bakery, retiring in 2002.
  • Pamela J. Morris, a 1966 Hastings High graduate passed away on December 24, 2018.  She was employed as a counselor at the Golden Girls, Girls Home in West Virginia.
  • Michael L. Kelly, a 1966 Hastings High graduate passed away on December 27, 2018.  He served In the Army from 1966 to 1969 receiving the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in Vietnam. He worked as a meat cutter a Jack & Jill for 17 years and retired from Sara Lee Bakery.
  • Helen M. Mullen, a 1946 Hastings High graduate passed away on December 2, 2018. She was Coordinator of the Office of Work with Children for 44 years and the first and only Black woman to head a department of the Free Library of Philadelphia.  She was committed to identifying the opportunities for the library to meet community needs and began many programs.
  • Robert W. Fricke, a 1946 Hastings High graduate passed away on November 13, 2018. He served in the Korean War from 1951-1953 in the 522nd Signal Construction Company attached to the 8th Army as a pole lineman. He began Fricke Concrete and Precast adding a mini-mix concrete
  • Jeffrey L. Poore, a 1979 Hastings High graduate passed away on November 11, 2018.  Jeff was employed at Allen's Foodmart for several years and retired from Nebraska Aluminum Castings in 2013.  He loved his family as well as Nebraska football and horseracing.
  • Harold H. Steepleton, a Hastings High graduate passed away on November 5, 2018.  He served in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Harold was employed as route salesman and manager for Coca-Cola, and retired from Metz Bakery.
  • Donald L. 'Donnie' Lamborn, a 1969 Hastings high graduate passed away.  He was an exceptional athlete and served in the Navy for six years.
  • Phillip A. Snell, a 1977 Hastings High graduate passed away on November 3, 2018.  He worked at Bonna Villa, the Grand Island Mall and the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island until his retirement.
  • Shirley A.(Thaut) Barton, a 1959 Hastings High graduate passed away on November 3, 2018.  She worked at many banks for over 30 years before retiring. She was a member of United
  • Methodist Church, PEO and the American Legion Auxiliary of Blue Hill.
  • John C 'Jack' Osborne, a 1958 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 28, 2018.  He taught school at Glenvil, Alvo-Eagle, and Hyannis, NE.  In the early 1970's, he began his employment with the multi-generation family business, Industrial-Irrigation Services and continued for over 40 plus years.  Jack was a stalwart supporter of Nebraska and the Hastings community serving in numerous organizations.  Hastings College Board of Trustees, First Presbyterian Church, Hastings Museum, McKinley-Lanning Trust/Mary Lanning Healthcare Foundation, Hastings Community Foundation and numerous others.
  • William J. 'Bill' Cantrell, a 1970 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 28, 2018.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a torpedoman on the USS Drum from 1972 to 1976.  Bill worked as an electrician and then as City Electrical Inspector for Hastings.
  • Nellie S. (Hinrichs) Wright, a 1940 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 18, 2018.  She worked for the Department of State, Visa Division in Washington D.C. and has a court reporter for the five Interdepartmental Visa Committees. 
  • Anita L. (Sale) Bennett, a 1955 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 18, 2018.  She managed a gift shop and was a line foreman in an electronics factory.  After moving to Hastings in 1981 she worked night supervisor at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in the Environmental department, retiring in 1999.
  • Vicki L. Dirks, a 1968 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 19, 2018.  She served as a First and Kindergarten teacher at Sutton Public Schools for 43 years, retiring in 2015.  She was a member of the Nebraska State Education Association and the Sutton Education Association.
  • Gary L. Ingram, a 1957 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 15, 2018.  He was in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 and a lifelong employee of Control Data/General Dynamics and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus- Marian Council and St. Croix Valley Corvette Club.
  • Anthony F. Epp, a 2009 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 14, 2018.  He worked for Allen's Superstore, Hastings Aluminum Castings, Hastings Pipe, Thermo-King, Hornaday, and was a machinist for Mid-America Pump & Supply. 
  • Kelly S. (Jackson) Steiger, a 1984 Hastings High graduate passed away on October 5, 2018.  She worked at Good Samaritan Society and McDonald's and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.
  • Marilyn L. (Classen) Schmidt, a 1953 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 24, 2018.  She was active with the Adams County Extension Group, St. Paul's Lutheran Church and part owner of Calico cottage fabric store until her retirement.
  • Debra E. (Mortensen) Horn, a 1978 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 24, 2018.  She was a five year member of the University of Nebraska -Lincoln Cornhusker Marching Band and worked for many years with USApron, Inc.
  • Kurt A. Unger, a 1976 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 27, 2018.  He farmed for 10 years in Hall, Adams and Clay counties.
  • Larry A. Munroe, a 1958 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 15, 2018.  He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York where he sang in the choir and an avid outdoorsman.
  • Wayne T. Peper, a 1966 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 15, 2018.  He was in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 and worked for the Hastings Street Department for 24 years. 
  • Wayne enjoyed fishing, playing billiards and going to auctions.
  • Duane K. Cleveland, a 1967 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 12, 2018. Duane owned and operated CG Company out of Holstein Nebraska.
    Jeanine D. (Laux) Myers, a 1950 Hastings High graduate passed away on September 4, 2018.  She was a daycare provider for many years out of her home and attended First United Methodist Church.
  • Donald L. Kissler, a 1959 Hastings High graduate passed away on August 31, 2018.  He worked for the J.M. McDonald Company  as an accountant for over 20 years and then as business manager for Great Plains Chrysler-Plymouth, Great Plain Packaging, Marshalltown Instruments, and Hastings Tribune.
  • Barbara A. (Priel) Sanford, a 1959 Hastings High graduate passed away on August 25, 2018.  She worked for Clarke hotel and was a mother of two.
  • Cheryl L. (Woolsey) Hartman, a 1983 Hastings High graduate passed away on August 25, 2018.  She worked as a nursing assistant, deli worker, cook, clerk and manager of deli at Allen's.
  • Jane E. (Armstrong) Canterberry, a Hastings High graduate passed away on August 15, 2018.  She spent 20+ years working as a nurse in geriatrics. 
  • Inez M. (Kohl)Kleier, a 1944 Hastings High graduate passed away on August 19, 2018.  She was employed as a bookkeeper at Hastings National, now Wells Fargo.   
  • Donna R. (DeMoulin) Kuhn, a 1954 Hastings High graduate passed away.  Donna was employed by the BNSF Railroad for 25 years and was active in city, state, and national politics.
  • Kathey M. (Dieken) Hamsher, a 1967 Hastings High graduate passed away on August 15, 2018.  Kathey worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot, raised her two children and started her career at the Hastings Regional Center.
  • Sandra Lee Gingrich, a 1987 Hastings High graduate passed away on August 2, 2018.  Sandi was a Special Olympics athlete and a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
  • Cheryl A. 'Cherrie' (Fleming) Mooers, a 1968 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 29, 2018.  Cherrie was a radiological technologist and co-owner of Electronic Systems with her husband Bruce.  She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, member of Catholic Daughters of America and served on the Hastings Public Schools Foundation.
  • Richard M. 'Dick' Patterson, a 1956 Hastings High graduate passed away.  He worked in the Lincoln Public School system as counselor at Lincoln High for 30 years and played the piano professionally for over 60 years.
  • Roger L. Golden Sr., a 1947 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 26, 2018.  He was In the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1952.  He worked for Losee and Cornelius Auto Works and Chief Industries.  Roger was an avid outdoorsman and Nebraska Cornhusker fan and longtime bowler.
  • Mary Ann M. (Kottwitz) John, a 1949 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 19, 2018.  She was employed by Nash Finch Company retiring in 1997 with over 40 years of dedicated accounting and receptionist service.
  • Janice K. (Deeds) Callan, a 1961 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 21, 2018.  She graduated from Hastings Beauty Academy and was then an instructor there.  Janice was also co-owner of El Fiesta and owned and operated La Petite until 1998.
  • Daniel J. Warrings, a 1968 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 18, 2018.  He was a farmer and enjoyed stock car racing, fishing, hunting and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
  • Michael V. Borden, a 1971 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 19, 2018.  He worked in the beer business for over 20 years before working for T & L, retiring in 2012.
  • Mark R. Zimmerman, a 1974 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 12, 2018. He worked in the engineering department at Hastings Industries for over 40 years until his retirement in January 2018.
  • Donald R. Whitcomb, a 1962 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 13, 2018.  He served in the U.S. Army and did a tour in Vietnam.  He was the President of Red & White Transfer where he worked for 49 years.
  • Patricia R. (Cooper) Wills, a 1958 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 6, 2018.  She worked in child daycare and also cared for the elderly.
  • John L. Runcie, a 1974 Hastings high graduate passed away on July 4, 2018. He worked for farmers and farmed near Central City. He was also a truck driver in Kansas for many years.
  • Larry Barnes, a 1961 Hastings High graduate passed away on July 3, 2018.  He worked for KN Energy/Kinder Morgan and retired in 2008.  He was a member of the Elks Country Club and served on the Civil Service Commission in Hastings.
  • Sue C. Crabtree, a 1972 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 7, 2018. Sue was employed for many years at the Hastings Regional Center as a transcriptionist and later as a sales associate at Walmart. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Hastings Elk Does-Drove 112.
  • Steven L.D. Grade, a 1976 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 20, 2018.  He was a factory worker and worked at PW Pipe.  Steven enjoyed woodworking, tumbling rocks, drawing and using his metal detector.
  • Michael A. Swayze, a 1982 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 22, 2018.  Michael was self-employed and worked in engineering and maintenance.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
  • Lori D. (Weber) Jarvis, a 1978 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 14, 2018.  She was elected to office of Register of Deeds for Berrien County Michigan in 2000 and was re-elected four times and served until her passing.
  • Paula S (Wilson) McDowell, a 1972 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 25, 2018.  Pam enjoyed lifeguarding, swim competitions, softball, riding bikes and making stained glass windows. 
  • Carolyn (Fox) Priebe, a 1962 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 7, 2018.  She taught ESL and special education for 35 years at Gibbon High School.  One of her happiest accomplishments was starting night courses in Gibbon for parents of ESL students.
  • Deanna K (Israelson) Krueger, a 1953 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 2, 2018.  Deanna was an avid bowler and enjoyed the grandmas’ league.
  • Evelyn A (Henry) Layher, a 1952 Hastings High graduate passed away on June 5, 2018.  She was employed by Skagway North where she managed the Snack Bar form 1968 until 1990.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed painting ceramics, caring for seasonal flowers, and the company of her pets.
  • Dorothy A (Long) Hansen, a 1944 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 23, 2018.  She was a farm wife/farmer all her adult life, a charter member of the Harvard VFW Auxiliary, a charter member of the Adams/Clay County ARC and a member of St John's Episcopal Church in Harvard and St Mark's Pro-Cathedral in Hastings.
  • Bradley E Herberg, a 1987 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 22, 2018.  Brad worked in the plumbing field in Colorado and Nebraska for many years.  He was an avid sportsman and camper.
  • Aaron A Gardner, a 1995 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 21, 2018.  Aaron was employed by Kully Pipe and Steel Supply Inc. and was very involved with Kam Raceway.
  • Mary Elise Bohling Crumbliss, a 1954 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 17, 2018.  She taught at Hastings Junior High and Edgar High School.  Mary was a member of Chapter AAPEO and Eastern Star Chapter 268 and a volunteer EMT for many years.
  • Neoma J Stubbe Ohlin, a 1959 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 18, 2018.  She was a member of First St Paul's Lutheran Church and also served as the president of Hairdressers Association Affiliate #14.
  • Chuck D Cantrell, a 1967 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 4, 2018.  He Served In the U.S. Air Force and in the Nebraska National Guard.  He was an electrical contractor, a paramedic while he owned Woodburn Ambulance Service and owned and operated G & C enterprise.
  • Sue L (Barfknecht) Cook, a 1972 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 5, 2018.  She married John Cook in 1976 and made their home in Grand Island.
  • Peggy J (Moore) Palmer, a 1955 Hastings High graduate passed away on May 9, 2018.  Her husband Bill and her were owners of Thrifty Lube in Fremont and she loved to quilt.
  • Robert E Morrow, a Hastings High graduate passed away on May 12, 2018.  He worked for Borley Mayflower and then for M& P Pork Farms.  He loved his animals, the farm, and Big Red football.
  • Nancy K (Stilson) Fergus, a 1966 Hastings High graduate passed away on April 28, 2018.  She enjoyed many careers during her life including nursing, accounting and as an electronics technician with the Federal Aviation Administration in Scottsbluff.

Asmus, a 1951 Hastings High graduate, passed away on April 21, 2018.  He served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic and was a farmer and carpenter.  He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glenvil, Charter member of Glenvil Lions Club, Rural Fire District Board, Adams County Extension Board, Glenvil Co-op board and District 75 School Board.
  • Thomas B. Swedlund, a 1949 Hastings High graduate, passed away on April 15, 2018.  Tom and his business partner opened Tom & Jerry's Home Furnishings and Appliances and later built family, elderly and income-based apartments and townhouses in Hastings. 
  • Doris M Schuppan, a 1945 Hastings High graduate, passed away on April 12, 2018. She served as a bookkeeper for the family business, Schuppan's Sales and Service, Inc. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
  • Edith L Perdew, a 1943 Hastings High graduate, passed away on April 10, 2018.  She was the administrator at Sunnyside for many years and was a member of first United Methodist Church and Lochland Country Club.
  • Gary A Jeremias, a 1969 Hastings High graduate, passed away on April 13, 2018.  Gary worked for Westland Homes and Hastings Utilities till he retired in 2002.  He was a member of Four Rivers Gun Club and the NRA and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

F. & A.M., Midwest Lodge #317 in Hastings, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry S.J. USA Valley in Hastings, Orient of NE, Tehama Shriners, former DeMolay Dad, Past President lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 592, American Legion Post 0011 and LaDanza Dance Club.
  • Russell K Copple, a 1940 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 31, 2018.  He served as a flight instructor in the Army Air Corps, raised registered shorthorn cattle on the Clearview Farm, served on two school boards, many service committees, and the Juniata Co-op elevator board.
  • Bradley A Mueller, a 1988 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 18, 2018.  He was a former Army National Guard in Hastings and a member and former vice president of Eagles Aerie 592.  He worked in the family businesses, Frankfooters and TCBY, and finally at Hastings College in security.
  • Irva G Bierhaus Smith, a 1936 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 15, 2018.  She was a secretary for Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation System, Foote Ophthalmology, Dutton Lainson Company and First Presbyterian Church.
  • Marge K Streck, a 1953 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 18, 2018.  She worked as a nurse's aide at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1993.
  • Christine M Stein, a 1977 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 1, 2018.  She attended Hastings College and worked for Montgomery Wards, Johnson Cashway and was an interior consultant for Jacobi's.
  • Betty J Bruntz Gillaspie Kort, a 1943 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 9, 2018.  She was active in Christian Women's Club, Original Betty Club, LeRoy Cheerful Works Extension Club and a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
  • Judy R Kramer, a 1956 Hastings High graduate passed away on March 8, 2018.  She worked in nursing in Nebraska, Minnesota and Kansas and taught psychology courses at Wayne State College, and L.P.N. classes at Central Community College in Kearney.
  • Genene A (Classen) Hansen,  1955 Hastings High graduate passed away on February 26, 2018.  She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, enjoyed quilting, baking and her grandchildren.
  • Alfred Akins, a 1948 Hastings High graduate passed away on February 8, 2018.
  • Paul E Wathen, a 1945 Hastings High graduate passed away on February 14, 2018.  He opened a café in Hastings for 3 years and then took a salesman job at Uerling Furniture for 41 years.
  • Connie R (Gaymon) Halloran, a 1961 Hastings High graduate passed away on February 9, 2018.  She was a teacher at Hastings Public Schools, YWCA Preschool, Adam Central Schools and worked at Hastings Public Library.  She was a former Hastings Public Schools Foundation Board member.
