A $700,000 project to keep music in the Hastings Public Schools thriving for generations to come.
The need for quality instruments and music items in Hastings Public Schools is growing. The number of students requiring a school-owned instrument to participate has steadily increased over the past ten years. Additionally, the personal cost of acquiring an instrument prevents many students from joining each year.
Unfortunately, many HPS owned instruments are more than thirty years old, with some over sixty years old, and are of basic quality. As the musicianship of HPS students increases, the quality of instruments should rise to match their abilities.
The HPS Foundation Board of Directors has set a $450,000 fundraising goal. The HPS Board of Education has committed $250,000 in matching funds for this effort.
This project will benefit students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, in all elementary schools, Hastings Middle School, and Hastings High School.
