The Hastings Public Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship: The Stanley J. Copley Memorial Scholarship will be awarded each spring to two Hastings High School seniors planning to attend a 4 year institution. Priority will be given to students who plan to major in education and who demonstrate financial need.
Stanley Copley started teaching European History at Hastings High School in 1959 and provided engaging and inspiring instruction until 1973. During that time he was named Outstanding Male Teacher by the education fraternity at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship.
The Stanley J. Copley Memorial Scholarship is provided through the generous donation of John S. Dietle (right), a member of the Hastings High Class of 1970. Mr. Copley was instrumental in John’s life as a history teacher and influenced his life career choice in public education.
