Happy Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween Safety Tips for Kids

Halloween is a fun time for children and families, but it is also important to keep safety in mind. A few simple reminders can help make Halloween a safe and enjoyable night for everyone.

Stay Safe While Trick-or-Treating

  • Always have an adult with young children.
  • Older children should trick-or-treat with a trusted group of friends.
  • Use sidewalks whenever possible. If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and stay as far to the side of the road as possible.
  • Look both ways before crossing the street. Cross at crosswalks or intersections whenever possible.
  • Stay in familiar areas. Let an adult know where you are going and when you expect to be home.
  • Carry a flashlight or glow stick. Make sure drivers and others can easily see you.
  • Wear costumes that are easy to see and move in. Avoid costumes that are too long or could cause tripping.
  • Be careful with masks and accessories. Make sure children can see clearly and move safely.
  • Never enter a stranger's home or vehicle. Children should only visit homes of people they know and trust.

Check Treats Before Eating

  • Wait until an adult checks treats before eating them.
  • Avoid anything that is unwrapped, opened, or damaged.
  • If your child has food allergies, carefully check labels before allowing them to eat their treats.
Have Fun and Make Good Choices

Remind children to stay with their group, follow safety rules, and use good judgment while enjoying Halloween. Most importantly, have fun and make happy memories!
