Substitute teaching
To substitute teach for Hastings Public Schools, you must have a current, valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate or Substitute Certificate.
If you need a certificate
Contact the Nebraska Department of Education Teacher Certification office at 402-471-0739 for help obtaining a certificate. Once you have it, follow the application steps below.
Apply to substitute teach
Email Shayla Dunn or visit the Hastings Public Schools Administration Office at 1515 W 8th St, Hastings, NE, to apply and complete the required paperwork.
You will need to upload or bring copies of:
- Your Nebraska Teaching Certificate or Substitute Certificate
- Your driver’s license
- Your Social Security card
- A voided check for direct deposit
Access the substitute calling system
Call Human Resources at 402-461-7502 to complete your paperwork and receive instructions for SmartFind Express. If you already have your Access ID, you can log in to SmartFind Express.
